Kenya
Tourism Board gets new Boss
Ms Nzioka Mbithi |
According
to Kenya based radio station Capital FM ,
her appointment was announced on Wednesday 24 October 2012.
Nzioka –
Mbithi has over 10 years experience in international tourism destination
marketing at the KTB and is one of the founder members of staff at the tourism
marketing organisation.
Prior to
her appointment, Nzioka- Mbithi served as the KTB Regional Marketing Manager
for Europe.
Nzioka-Mbithi
is one of the founding Executive Directors of the Kenya Association of Women in
Tourism (KAWT) and also a part time lecturer and mentor at Moi University
Tourism Department.
She holds
an MBA in Strategic Management (Marketing), a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism
Management from Moi University and a post-graduate Diploma in Marketing of
Services from Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands.
The
Minister exuded confidence in Nzioka – Mbithi’s leadership at KTB, citing her
vast experience as a key asset. Outgoing Managing Director, Muriithi Ndegwa
completed his three-year-term at the helm of the marketing agency.
His
tenure saw the tourism industry record improved performance in terms of revenue
receipts and arrivals with 2011 recording 1.7 million arrivals and Sh97.3
billion.
While
taking over the office, Nzioka – Mbithi re-assured the industry of KTB’s
support and commitment in driving tourism and asked them to play their role
through offering quality products and services.
“This is
important especially at this time when the destination’s security perception is
challenged by Kenya’s fight against terrorism through participation on the war
against the Al Shaabab. Ahead of elections early next year, all Kenyans need to
take personal responsibility to ensure that Kenya emerges as a peaceful country
that will continue to attract potential travellers,” she said.
